Spring 2021 Market Research Data

ATvantage conducts market research in an effort to consistently provide competitive contracts within the collective job market. Below are the findings of our research given the current market data. 

NATA Salary Survey

The first data point we considered is from the 2018 NATA Salary Survey. The selections made were chosen to resemble the work ATvantage provides as closely as possible. 

NATA Average for Multiple Part Time Jobs:

  • Median Hourly Rate: $30

  • Median Annual Salary: $34k

CA Average for Multiple Part Time Jobs:

  • Median Hourly Rate: $30

  • Median Annual Salary: $40,758

CA Average for Multiple Part Time Jobs in Secondary School, Athletic Only:

  • Median Hourly Rate: $30

  • Median Annual Salary: $17k

Based on this information, we chose to use the average of all multiple part time jobs within CA, as the Secondary School option seemed too low and would skew our data to be more favorable. ATvantage contracts make up an average of 58% of the total compensation an AT in that setting garners ($40,758); this suggests that contracts with us provide more than half the income for an AT with multiple part time jobs. 

Current Market Prospect

Next, we focused our attention on all publicly available job openings in the state and, specifically, the regions we staff. 

Sacramento Area:

  • Pivot Onsite (Industrial), Modesto: Full Time $56-$60k (Overnight shift)

  • Sac City College: Temporary $23.49/hr (up to 960 hours or 135 days)

  • Orthopedic Sales, Tracy: $60-$70k

  • William Jessup, Rocklin: $55k-$60k

  • CSU Sacramento: Full Time Temporary $42,852-$82,704

  • Yosemite Community College, Modesto: Part Time 32.5 hrs/wk @ 11months: $39,292-$50,204

  • Los Rios Community College, Sacramento: $23.49/hr


Greater Napa Area:

  • Muir Orthopedic Specialists, Walnut Creek: $50k full time

  • Menlo College: Full Time $42-$45k


Greater Orange County Area:

  • CSU Fullerton: Full Time $46,630-$90,370

  • Compete Sports Performance, Lake Forest, Competitive Cheer practice: $25/hr

  • Stretch Lab, Costa Mesa: Up to $40k/yr


Greater Los Angeles Area:

  • Biola University: Full Time $22-$24/hr

  • Cal Tech, Pasadena: $60k-$65k

  • Rio Hondo. Whittier: $30.60/hr


Greater San Diego Area:

  • Christian College: Full Time $25-$30k

  • Fit for Work AT/PT: Full Time $55k-$60k

  • UCSD: Full Time $59,700-85k

  • Mira Costa College, Oceanside: Full Time Temporary $32.83/hr

  • SDSU: Full Time $42,852-$82,704


Other:

Based on this data, we looked at the average hourly compensation across all ATvantage contracts within a given region and compared it to the average hourly rate for other work available in the area. This revealed that ATvantage contract compensation is within the top 1% of all positions in the areas we staff.

Inflation and Cost of Living

Lastly, we took a look at the impact that national economic inflation has had on the country at large. 

According to the Social Security Administration, there has been a 1.3% increase in Cost of Living Adjustment. Meaning an item that cost $1 in 2020, would now cost $1.01 in 2021. 

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there has been approximately a 4.2% increase in inflation as of April 2021. Majority of that increase is attributed to food & energy, 1.2% and 1.4% respectively. 

We utilize this information to help determine how compensation may need to increase year over year.
