Why You Should Consider Contract Work as an Athletic Trainer

Regardless of your life circumstances, it is our mission to keep you working in a profession you love.

Whether you're newly certified, looking for minimal hours, re-locating, pursuing other passions on the side, or waiting for *the one*, work opportunities with ATvantage could be just what you're looking for.

A few things that set us apart from other staffing agencies:

  • We negotiate appropriate hours that put YOUR value as an HCP first. We’re all about that work-life balance!

  • We manage client expectations so boundaries are in place in order for you to thrive.

  • We ensure that facility, supplies, and administrative support are prioritized so you always have what you need to provide stellar care.

We take what we do seriously and are constantly improving our processes to keep things efficient and streamlined for you. One way we do this is by collecting feedback via annual surveys from the ATs and ADs we work with. Here's what one AT had to say:

"All of my experiences working with other ATvantage staff has been great, the shortlist website was easy to navigate, communication and help were always provided when I needed it from you guys and I appreciate that a ton."

We also conduct annual market research to determine how we stand within the current market.

Something to note when considering contract work with us:

The national average for an athletics appointment only in the secondary school setting is $58,028. A contractor working 30hrs/week with us can earn 74% of this yearly compensation, working less than 52% of the time.

We have an entire blog that breaks down all our 2022 research which you can read HERE.

We're also all about advocating for the ATs we work with and here's how we do it:

  • We conduct site visits prior to ever placing an AT to ensure there are proper facilities and administrative buy-in.

  • We protect you from being underpaid and overworked by writing contracts on a per-hour basis; meaning that every hour you work, you get paid (including paperwork or other administrative tasks).

  • We don’t work with clients who don’t value our profession. We literally have clauses in our contract that protect you from intimidation, bullying or undermining. They get interviewed more rigorously than you do 😉

  • During the interview process, you may visit up to 3 sites to determine where you might best fit. Understanding school demographics, athletic competitiveness, and team dynamics help you best decide what is best for you.

  • You get access to an entire network of ATs working in your region and district. No more solo secondary school isolation, we’ve got a whole team working alongside you!

Working as an AT isn't one size fits all and we're passionate about providing jobs that allow you to practice in a way that works for you. We want to work with ATs who seek autonomy, need flexibility in their schedule, and feels empowered in their role. Sound like you?
